This looks a lot more safe and sturdy then using a pair of just compression fit 2x6's that I was thinking of using! Omg this is perfect thank you.

Glad you will be able to leverage Paul's idea

Improve your roof top tent's cold weather performance with an Insulator!

These Insulator clip onto the internal frame of your tent, kind of a tent inside your tent. The quilted fabric keeps cold out and cozy in for an additional layer of Winter cold weather camping protection. Designed for Tepui roof top tents, but will work with many other models.

Do you think it'll work with the Smittybilt Overlander tent? (Not the XL)

Is that a pump assisted water tank up front?

It's looking like my tent will end up being roughly 40" off the ground so something like this would be perfect, but with the c channel mod suggested and a much lighter weight step ladder. Possibly a simple custom ladder or some aluminum welded steps , any ideas are appreciated.

Yes, for the standard 56" wide Smittybilt tent, get the Kukenam / Autana version.

Yes, the tank in front of the black Dinoot Jeep trailer has an electric pump on top.

For shorter trailer setups, you could also cut the unneeded portion of your ladder off

Here is what Clayton had to say about one of the new Insulators installed in Smittybilt roof top tent.

"This liner is awesome. Fit my smittybilt perfect and super quick. Still folds closed with it attached. Material goes up under the mattress making a real nice weather seal to keep the cold out. Nice product."
